Zabriskie point.

Zabriskie? You might wonder why we chose that name for a digital video company based in Belgium. Well, basically because we think it sounds cool and we like the letter ‘Z’. Of course, we could have chosen Zorro as well, but that would have been too obvious and in the end there’s only one real Diego de la Vega (and for us, kids of the nineties, that’s Duncan Regehr).

Zabriskie refers to Zabriskie point, a beautiful spot in Death Valley (California, USA), popular among photographers. As photographylife.com explains… “It’s an alien landscape of maze-like canary yellow ridges tiger striped with chocolate browns. It has ravines of pistachio green rock topped with pink gravel—bizarre and wonderful”. In that way the name Zabriskie also refers to our passion for travel, mountains and hot weather.

Last but not least, Zabriskie point is also a film by Michelangelo Antonioni, an Italian film director and screenwriter, who redefined the concept of narrative cinema. Although Zabriskie point was a commercial failure, the film nowadays is praised for its beautiful widescreen compositions and for creating its own docu-surrealism by casting unknown amateurs.
